Black plus size woman with muscle
My strength will come.

At 37 years old, I never expected to be over 300 pounds, but here I am.

Throughout the years, I promised myself that I would lose weight by doing this and that, only to fall short and reach my highest weight EVER!

To put it mildly, I'm HIGHLY disappointed in myself.

Despite this, I remain optimistic that the best has yet to come and I now view my 40's as an opportunity to establish a fresh start that will permanently put my past behind me.

These years of laziness, failures and excuses MUST be put to rest once and for all and what better way to do that, than to gift myself with the challenge of preparing for my very first body building competition; a long term dream of mine.

My Game Plan for The Competition

I turn 40 in 2026, so right now, I don't have all the specifics on how I am going to reach my goal just yet, but I do have it broken down into to parts:

2023: Mindset & Habit Change / Lose 50lbs

2024: Lose 120lbs or 10lbs a month

2025 (39): Muscle Toning and Building

2026 (40): Final Preparations

Needless to say, I have my work cut out for me

For this project, I am determined to become a person who refuses excuses and I am fully committing to taking the hard way each and every day, no matter how uncomfortable it makes me feel. I will force myself to do one or more things that challenge me each day so that I can avoid getting as comfortable as I have.

Life is about how you respond to what happens more than what happens to you. Almost all of us could make excuses for why we haven't achieved our personal goals, but that's not the approach everyone takes.

It's not about how I feel anymore and hasn't been for a while. Not only do I need to do this for myself, but I have a 10- year old child who's going to be entering adulthood in 8 years and I have to make the necessary adjustments so he KNOWS he can do ANYTHING he sets his mind to no matter how long it takes. This reason alone is why I must put in the undeniable work in order to see his and my dreams come to fruition. I will stop at nothing to get there.

Here's to a new ways, a new chapter and accomplished goals!
